Each month, Facebook research team release their Topics to Watch report, which highlights key subjects that are seeing significant increases in mention volume across The Social Network.
The idea of the report is to help marketers get ahead of the curve on the latest trends – not every topic will be of relevance to your business, but the ones that are have a much higher chance of being ‘the next big thing’.
And their data-backed predictions are pretty good – Facebook’s researchers say that 80% of the topics they’ve identified vis the Topics to Watch reports have gone on to become more prominent trends.
So which key trends should you be paying attention to at the moment?
Some interesting suggestions – as noted, not all will be relevant to every business, and it’s possible than none relate to what you do. But if you can see a link, or if there’s something on the list that inspires a content idea, it’s likely worth exploring, and catching it while it’s on the rise.
