Cost and pricing
What apps cost to build and run, what drives the price, and where the money goes.
What decides the price of an app
The price of an app is set by its scope: the features, the platforms, the design work and the services it connects to. Fix the scope and the price can be fixed with it.
- Features and platforms
- Each feature and each platform (iOS, Android, web) adds work. Launching on one platform first spreads the cost over time.
- Integrations
- Payments, maps, video streaming and messaging bring their own setup and running costs, so they are counted up front.
- Running costs
- Hosting, storage, third-party services and updates continue after launch and belong in the budget from day one.
